I used to donate to Best Friends monthly but when I did some homework on them I pulled my funding and give to a local rescue that does 10X the work Best Friends ever did. They are money grubbers who think they always know best and engage in some very shady practices in my opinion.

Donate locally where you know exactly how your $$ is being spent.

Save them All - what a deceptive slogan

Donna, I could not agree with you more! Here is an article I wrote on this very subject: https://animalpolitics.substack.com/p/animal-politics-think-globally-give?utm_source=publication-search

@Ed Boks- this article has clearly stated the importance of spay/neuter in animal welfare and the importance of DIRECT DONATIONS to LOCAL shelters.

Thank you for your honest expose’ of these “fundraisers” posing as animal advocates. I agree that pitiful pictures and ads are a shameless manipulation, raising funds that ultimately employ flawed policies minimizing spay/neuter…the fastest way to control stray animal populations!

I shudder to think of the poor kittens being released into the desert to die horrible deaths. I’m shocked that this is happening- it must STOP immediately. 😱How can this be legal???

Keep informing the world about these conflicts as they will hopefully affect change in the ways animal lovers donate their funds…

Boyd, let me know how I can help.

I had an experience once and needed to place an animal, it was the only animal no kill shelter I could find.

I called to find out how it was going down there and found they are in dire need of help.

Thanks I’m just passing the word.

I want to take a roadtrip down there.

Thank you for bringing Best Friends to light. I returned a dog to them on Monday and I am absolutely heartbroken. I am a huge rescue advocate and it goes against every value to return a dog -- and none of this is fair to a sweet, smart loving dog, but who turned out to be 1/2 Livestock Guardian Breed -- that Best Friend's imported from New Mexico. After putting in training and doing my best with him, I was advised he simply does not belong in an urban environment. I learned a lot about Best Friend's tactics along the ways. When my heart settles a bit, I plan to contact Los Angeles and California elected officials to change policy on how BFAS can operate in our city. Do you have any guidance on who to email and effective messaging. I'm happy to share my documentation of my experience with you.

Powerful examples of what is happening on the coast and across the country.

Very sad, indeed. But there are signs folks are "waking up" to these shenanigans...
