I didn't know about these bisons! What an amazing gift to the island and to the indigenous communities. If you want to watch, "The Vanishing American," I found it online: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBvAbC6fBy0)

A few years back I learned about a small herd of bision who'd been left on an island off the coast of Maine (the things rich people do) and then, when the NPS purchased it, were removed for ecological purposes. I've always wondered what would've happened had the bison been allowed to remain....

Thanks for the post!

Interesting story about the bison on the island off the coast of Maine. It's fascinating to consider the different paths that invasive species and their management can take. It's my hope that others will come to see that compassionate conservation offers a humane and effective approach to these challenges. Thank your engagement and feedback!

Reading this warms my heart and is a lovely way to start the day. Why can’t this thoughtful method be employed by all? For our collective humanity, we all need to live in a world where these heartfelt solutions are the law of the land. Why can’t we who live in Northern America model these practices, subsidized these practices?

I know you know I must be very cautious when selecting reading material about animals, birds, insects, possibly any species other than man. Who knows why my nature is so emotional, so utterly responsive and vulnerable to the daily welfare of our planet’s creatures? I guess I yam what I yam! Thank you for your attempts to slay all of their dragons.
